Southwest Florida Demographic Trends

  • Southwest Florida includes the three coastal counties of Charlotte, Collier and Lee, plus the two rural counties of Hendry and Glades. 
  • The Five-County region adds approximately 22,000 new residents each year, which translates to approximately 9,000 new people entering the workforce each year.
  • Southwest Florida reported over 880,000 people in the 2000 Census and is projected to reach more than 1 million by 2010.
