We recruit, train, and place workers into the marketplace. Career and Service Centers of Southwest Florida provides job search and job placement activities, career planning, assessment, work readiness certification, résumé building, career and technical education training scholarships, and on-the-job training that assist individuals to prepare for and retain employment. Our certified workforce professionals work closely with you to ensure your success in the workplace. Training Scholarships The training scholarships are available to help defray the cost of occupational skills training. You may qualify for training assistance through one of our workforce services programs. Based on information we receive from local employers and industries, we developed a list of occupations currently in demand in Southwest Florida. The list provides the occupational title and the expected number of openings and wage information. This information may be helpful as you consider occupational training or a new career. You may apply for a training scholarship in order to acquire marketable job skills or improve your current job skills. Scholarships are based on applicant eligibility and are limited to the availability of training funds. A listing of approved training providers and occupations covered under training programs offered in Southwest Florida are listed below:The Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board approves all training courses and training providers. Only courses that train you for a job in a high-demand occupation are approved. Money for Training We can help you obtain the skills you must have to acquire a good job or start a new career. If you are interested in career and technical education training, you may be eligible for an Individual Training Account, referred to as an ITA. If You Are Eligible For An Individual Training Account (ITA) for Tuition Assistance:The life time maximum amount per individual through the Career and Service Centers of Southwest Florida for tuition and other costs associated with the training is $6,500. Any tuition or other costs greater than $6,500 will be the responsibility of the individual. Career and Service Center workforce professionals and the schools’ financial aid office may be able to assist you in finding grants, loans and/or scholarships to help you pay for training costs. All customers must apply for a Pell Grant to use for schools that are PELL eligible. Attending an Orientation Session is the first step to enrolling. At this session you will learn about available training programs and eligibility requirements. The Orientation provides information regarding training funds available through the Workforce Investment Act and an overview of the services available within the Center.
