Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI) Veterans’ Program - Involves the provision of priority workforce services to veteran customers which include: job referrals, job development, referrals to training and supportive services, case management, labor market information, resumé assistance, employability workshops, etc.

The Career and Service Center in Fort Myers is staffed with three Veterans’ representatives to help you on your job search. They team with you and provide coaching, mentoring, and practical guidance to assist you in your job search process. In addition, the center offers:

  • Resumé preparation and critique assistance
  • Career and skills assessment
  • Workshops on resumé creation, the job search process, applications and interview skills
  • Refresher computer workshops
  • Referral to individualized training opportunities
  • Employment counseling
  • Access to our jobs web site
  • Fax machines, copy machines, and computers for your use

Inform and assist all veterans, their dependents, widows, and surviving children in securing all benefits to which they may become entitled while acting as liaison between service organizations and Lee County Government on veterans issues.

The Lee County Veterans Service Office provides van service from the Fort Myers Office to the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Bay Pines, FL. The van runs Monday through Friday, departing at 6:45 am . Drivers are volunteers, and occasionally the schedule is restricted to fewer days per week. Volunteers can contact the Veterans Service Office to help our veterans.
